Sardinia’s wetlands are numerous and include ponds, lakes and rivers. The ponds are concentrated along the coasts and are home to several species of waterfowl, amongst them the now settled pink flamingo.
Sardinia’s only natural lake is Lake Baratz, situated in the Northwest. All other lakes are man made. Over the years, many rivers have been dammed to create man made lakes. Most rivers can be considered as streams and can be canoed, except the Temo river, the navigable waterway that runs through the town of Bosa.
