Sardinian is characterized by a Mediterranean climate, with an average of 25 sunny days a month.
Some central Sardinian areas, such as the Gennargentu Mountains in the Barbagia territory, have a particularly cold weather. In the few mountains, at an altitude of over 1000 metres, the temperature is low, winters are snowy while summers are cool. It snows once every ten years in the hilltops, in the flat land or close to the sea.
It doesn’t rain frequently and only for very short periods of time, during November and December.
From March to October the mild temperature encourages outdoor life. Temperature never drops below 13,5° C and during summer it is around 30°-32° C.
From November to February the weather is good as well. You can walk along the seashore or in the upland areas. On sunny days you can lie on the beach but not wearing a swimsuit.
Sardinia is a very windy land particularly suited for practicing sports such as sailing, windsurfing, kite-surfing, in every season. The North-west wind is particularly welcome in summer, because it tempers the hottest days. In fact, sometimes temperature reaches 40° C, but not every year and only for few days.
In coastal areas thanks to the proximity of the sea, climate is mild also in winter. During winter the climate is tempered by the North-west wind and sea bathing.
Thanks to the mild climate you can go trekking in every period of the year.
